ZARAUTZ – Euskadi – The ASP World Qualifying Series (WQS) 5-Star San Miguel Pro pres. by Euskaltel will run this week, welcoming some of the world’s best professional surfers in the typical Basque town of Zarautz, current ASP Top 45 surfer Aritz Aranburu’s residence.
As the summer leg of the ASP’s European tour is raging in the Azores Islands, the renowned town of Zarautz will become the stage of pro surfing between September 1 and 6, 2009, defending champion Tim Boal (Anglet, FRA), 26, having answered the call to try and re-conquer his crown. ASP WQS 6-Star Azores Pro is ON, Live Web ON
SAO MIGUEL – Azores islands (Tuesday, August 25, 2009) – The first ever ASP sanctionned event to run in the Azores Islands kicked off at midday in solid five foot (1.5 meter) waves at Ribeira Grande, main venue of the ASP 6-Star event.
With renowned surfers already scheduled to surf today in Round 1 of competition, the consistent surf on offer and world class level should bring intensity and exciting action for Day 1 of competition, former ASP World Champion Sunny Garcia (Oahu, HAW), 38.

Vom 13. bis 23.8.09 findet an der französischen Atlantikküste der diesjährige 6* WQS LACANAU PRO statt. Bislang steht als einziger Deutscher Starter Nicolau Von Rupp auf der Teilnehmerliste. Vom 18. – 26.7.09 finden am Huntington Beach die US Open im Wellenreiten statt. Der 6* Event ist eine Pflichtaufgabe für alle, die sich im nächsten Jahr auf der WT wiedersehen möchten. Unser einziger deutscher Starter Marlon Lipke ist leider bereits ausgeschieden und belegte einen für ihn enttäuschenden 72. Platz. Viele WT Pros (z.B. Kelly Slater) sind noch im Rennen. LA SAUZAIE, France (Tuesday, April 7, 2009) – The ASP WQS 4-Star Protest Vendee Pro witnessed some serious action on Day 2 with event top seeds getting their start in the consistent wind-blown three to five foot waves on offer at La Sauzaie. Most of the favourites secured their Round 3 berth with few outsiders finding their way through to the last 32-men contingent of the 2009 edition.
Hugo Savalli (REU), 25, took control of proceedings in Heat 9 of Round 2, the Reunion born powerful surfer finding his rhythm in the hollow tricky lefthanders rolling over the reef of La Sauzaie to advance and boost his confidence back. Savalli, who ended his run with a solid 16.17 point heat tally (ou of a possible 20) thanks to a last second 7.50 point ride to back-up his high scoring 8.67 wave and leave the water cheered by fellow French and European competitors.
